|Event Description:||National Train Day, an annual holiday celebrating the impact trains have had on the world, will be celebrated at the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum on Saturday, May 8th from 10 am to 1 pm.
Activities include live music, train rides, balloon and face paint artists, a photo booth, and concessions provided by The Pot Smoker BBQ and Whipped Creamery. Stop by the caboose and meet Conductor Don. Don't forget to check out the train museum and the Drive-A-Train exhibit. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the live music. Admission is free and tickets for the train ride are $1 per person (including children and adults).
The celebration of National Train Day kicks off with a special train themed Story Time in Gyles Park on Tuesday, May 4th at 4 pm. Train themed books will be given to each family in attendance. Snacks and drinks are welcome. Parents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
National Train Day would not be possible without support from the Friends of the Aiken Railroad Depot board. Be sure to stop by the gift shop inside the Train Depot. All proceeds go to the FARD board.
