|Event Name:||Battle Scars & War Stories|
|Event Description:||The world was changed in 1942 and living memory of that time is all but gone. However, stories from our veterans from World War II will not be lost to the ages. Authors of 'In Their Own Words: Augusta and Aiken Area Veterans Remember World War II' will share the emotional, gripping, and life changing recollections recounted by local World War II veterans.
Just in time for Veterans Day, meet the authors of this moving anthology and hear the stories of local veterans storming Omaha Beach on D-Day, fighting in the battle of the Bulge in the harsh Winter of 1944, watching kamikaze aircraft crash into US vessels, and liberating concentration camps.
Dr. Douglas Higbee teaches courses in 20th century British literature, literary criticism, non-western literature, and composition. James Garvey is known for writing for the Augusta Magazine. Hubert Van Tuyll is an Associate Professor of History at Augusta State University.
