Event Description: | Discover the Meaning Behind the Power of Black Female Flight with Dr. Len Lawson. Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site is hosting a Speakers Bureau program presented by Len Lawson on "The Power of Black Female Flight in the Neo-Slave Narrative." The program will take place on Saturday, September 28 at 11 a.m. In modern fictionalized narratives on slavery by black authors, black women are given a supernatural ability to transcend time and space in order to alter their genealogies and family trauma. In this program, Lawson details such abilities given to black female characters and its implications on race relations in the 21st century. Online Registration Required. $10/Person. Bring water.
