| Event Description: | **Due to the continuing recovery from Hurricane Helene, please be advised that all City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism programs and events are cancelled until further notice.** The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department is pleased to announce the return of Story Time, a cherished reading program that promotes literacy in our community's youth. The fall season begins on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 4:00 PM and continues every Tuesday afternoon in September and October. This fall, Story Time sessions will highlight themes of imagination and creativity, taking you away with unique stories that will fill the air with giggles. We'll savor enchanting food fables, explore the magic of nature and the great outdoors, and satisfy our curiosity with stories of exploration and bravery. Join us as we embark on adventures that celebrate courage and the wonders of the world around us. Plus, the fall season will conclude with a special Halloween themed Story Time on Tuesday, October 29th. Story Time is free to attend and is held on the grounds of Rye Patch, located at 100 Berrie Rd. Parents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket, snacks and drinks are welcome. Families will receive a free book to build their home library at every reading session. In addition, families are encouraged to bring used books from home to help stock the Little Free Library in Hopelands Gardens. The Little Free Library, installed in April 2017, is a free book exchange that further encourages the mission of Story Time. In the event of inclement weather, Story Time will be held inside the Rye Patch Reception Center. |
