Join a ranger at Battle of Rivers Bridge State Historic Site and walk in the footsteps of Civil War soldiers. Take an easy 1/3-mile hike on the Battlefield Trail. See the natural beauty of the Salkehatchie Swamp and hear how the soldiers endured bad weather during battle that took place in February 1865. Meet at the park office. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing for the weather, close-toed shoes and to bring water. Meet at Battlefield Parking Area. Looking for an additional First Day Hike? Consider the 2025 Sandhills Challenge!
