Description: State Historic Site. US 278, 3 miles southeast of Beech Island. This park was originally the home of Governor James Henry Hammond in the 1800's. Throughout the year special programs are offered on topics such as the African-American history of the site, heirloom gardening, genealogy/research and cemetery preservation. Facilities include a visitor's center, mansion, two historic slave quarters and stables. Activities include picnicking, hiking and home tours.
